Fluid /flōōid/ n.

a substance that has no fixed shape and yields easily to external pressure; a gas or (especially) a liquid.

Water has three forms. Vapor, ice, and liquid. Essentially, it has no constraints. It ebbs, flows, rushes, or stays still. It moves in any way it needs and humans can only control it by placing barriers of any kind to contain it. Often, water is known as a universal sign of life because, obviously, it is needed for all life. All living organisms are made of primarily water and need continuous intakes of it to sustain their health. Needless to say, people need to keep the water clean. Especially because it will all likely be consumed as drinking water.

One of the most important, but overlooked, aspects of drinking water are watersheds. Watersheds are drainage basins. They are areas of land water flows through to reach a common body of water. They catch rain and snow, the drains it into marshes, rivers, groundwater, or lakes. Clean watersheds mean clean drinking water. It should not be hard to protect something so beautiful and essential to existence.
